Letchworth Sports and Tennis Club 2023 Adult and Junior Finals Day
The 2023 Club Championships
“A HUGE thank you”.
What a fantastic day we had on Sunday 9th July for our Club Championships 2023. It was brilliant to see many of you competing in the finals with so many enthusiastic supporters enjoying the matches, soaking up the sun and enjoying a few drinks with music and food. Great to see gym and squash members attend with families too. This really is what LSTC is all about. A fun family event.
Mini & Junior Competition
Our Mini members started the weekend off on Saturday and gave us some brilliant matches to watch followed by our junior members on Sunday morning, again with some impressive matches. There was lots of enthusiasm and determination from players on court with their fellow members supporting them along. With free sports activities indoors, players, siblings and parents and grandparents got to enjoy fun games too, not to mention the play station set up. A huge well done to everyone who competed, the finalists and runners up.

AGM
It was encouraging to have many members attend the AGM this year, and engaged in how LSTC is performing and plans to develop over the next 12 months. It was interesting to learn that members seem keen on being part of the social scene and would like more events at the Club. As a members Club we are always looking for volunteers to run social events and drive the social scene as well as other club projects, if this is something you would like to see more of and get involved with organising, please do get in touch via my email, manager@lstc.org.uk.
Show Match
Both Dominic Ross Hurst (Tennis Manager) and Joseph Tirrell (Tennis Coach) competed in a fantastic show match on Clay 1. This seemed to be a highlight on the day and was great to watch. Some impressive shots and creative headwear! Clubroom Vibe
The day would not have been the same without DJ Charlotte (local DJ and member) who created a brilliant atmosphere in and outside the clubroom with some great music. We’ve had some amazing feedback on Charlotte’s set and already members are asking if we can book in again! It was lovely to see children enjoying the music and having a little dance in their clubroom. Simon, Erica, and I also enjoyed the tunes from behind the bar. Thank you so much Charlotte, we really appreciate you being here on the day and giving up your Sunday for free! We all loved it.
Adult Competition
Again, some great matches to watch on both clay and carpet courts with some members playing in more than one match in the scorching heat! I think the Pimm’s helped cool us all down afterwards with a little cool breeze later in the evening. A huge well do to everyone who competed, the finalists and runners up.

BBQ & Sponsor
A big thank you to Gary and Sheila for running the BBQ on the day, there were plenty of burger and chips being sold with a very quick sell out! None of us had quite anticipated such a huge turnout off the back of the survey! Next year we will get double the amount!
With such a successful turn out we are super keen to get some more events booked in the diary for this year. We are thinking a quiz night may be welcomed towards the end of August, Coach Keith is keen to run a fun wooden racket tennis event, and this year feels like it needs a big Christmas party. To help us understand what members would like to participate in and help run in 2023, we will be putting together a member survey over the next couple of weeks which we will email out.
Muddy Lane Café.
And finally, a huge thank you to all the people behind the scenes who helped put this event together, volunteers, staff, board members, and Setfords our Club Sponsor for the day. We very much look forward to seeing you all at the next Club event.
Kind regards
Mel
